The build today
SHADOWFRAG is a Movement FPS for Windows and Linux. The development build includes 21 multiplayer maps, Shogun conquest, deathmatch, Capture the Flag, Last Ninja / Scroll and Demolition. Local practice, adjustable bots, private hosting, direct-connect multiplayer, chat and Map Studio are available. Multiplayer matches have a 64-player limit, including bots.
Precision Dojo is separate offline aim training with fourteen forms, real ninja movement and the game’s rail, bow and star handling. The story tutorial introduces movement, weapons, buying equipment and capturing linked objectives through a playable mission. Neither training space counts toward the multiplayer map roster.
Shogun and the Highlands
Jade and Crimson contest six settlements and twelve supporting outposts across Shogun Highlands. Secure both outposts to unlock a settlement attack; holding more settlements drains enemy tickets. Earn gold, buy weapons and mobility, and choose when to hold a position or reinforce another fight. Railguns are excluded from Shogun’s equipment pool.
The Highlands span 3,000 × 2,520 world units. Walking routes and bridges connect the districts; exposed skyways carry ninjas above the mountains into steerable descents. Read the Shogun guide.
An engine built around response
SHADOWFRAG uses a native C++20 / SDL3 / Vulkan engine. Input, client prediction and network result processing run independently of rendering. Movement and combat use a 128 Hz simulation. A compatible Vulkan driver is required; final hardware requirements follow release qualification.
Replays and competitive review
Record gameplay as state instead of encoded video. The native demo browser supports seeking, player follow and free camera. Competitive recording combines authoritative server evidence with collected client tracks for referee review. It is an evidence system, not a guarantee against cheating. Read about demos.
What comes next
The game is in active development. Steam integration, broader Internet testing and release qualification remain separate milestones. A public release date has not been announced.
SHADOWFRAG is opening by invitation. Request an invite code and receive development updates. Anyone can request access; Shadow Council contributors receive priority when invitations begin. Codes will be issued in a future round.
